Landesi Villa – Galle Fort
Located within the World Heritage site of the Galle Fort, and built as a homage to the Dutch period of Ceylon, is Landesi Villa. Its name translates as ‘of Dutch origin’ – the colonial elegance of this villa is bound to take you back to a bygone era.
The three roomed villa has been restored to its former glory by architect Ashley de Vos and owner Stephen Labrooy who have created this masterpiece as a testament to their Dutch heritage. Using building materials taken from old properties that were being demolished, the villa was rebuilt preserving its original architectural aspect. Paintings by well-known artists adorn the walls of the spacious and airy interiors, while the antique furniture and bright contemporary furnishings add to its unique atmosphere. Landesi Villa is a bed and breakfast villa which offers guests a wide selection of local and continental breakfast dishes. Wide verandahs open out on the secluded garden which is the ideal location for an al fresco meal. The bedrooms are furnished in classic colonial style featuring four poster beds with ultra-comfortable bedding, air conditioning and WiFi access, and have attached bathrooms with hot and cold water showers.
